Shift Out Loud

I want to share something about learning to bring yourself into a better state of mind whenever you choose to.

Let's take a long deep breath.

Come fully into this moment.

Set our intention to be 100% here and now.

Notice how it feels to shift into presence — into silence.


A constructive way to think about learning to shift your state of mind when you choose to, is to think about it as like learning a new language.

You already know all the words of this new language though.

Maybe you haven't often used the words in this particular way — to shift your mind.

We don't often say things out loud to ourselves like, “take a long, deep breath.”

It is through practicing speaking sentences like that one aloud though — in an intentional and presence-generating way — that you become able to speak yourself into the state of mind that's better for you anytime.

Learning the language takes some reps and time.

I love thinking about it as like learning a language because it implies that you plan to speak the language aloud.

The capacity to speak yourself into a better state of mind is not that complicated.

It's just a matter of learning the map that you’ll need to navigate to get where you choose to.

It’s a map of you.

It’s a map of your inner world.

Being able to navigate your personal map takes a certain amount of attention and practice.

It takes a certain number of reps to know what works for you — to find your way around your map.

With time, you’ll become able to navigate from the corners of your map, into the silent, present center, when you choose to — and then back out through your map again by shifting toward whatever's up next for you today.

That's why I love the idea of learning to speak your Shift to yourself.

In the OnePerfect Shift apps we have a ‘record’ button on the screen.

And we increasingly encourage you to create your own Shifts — to speak your own Shifts.

And, to share your spoken Shifts with others.

Remember the learning method called, “see one, do one, teach one?”
